 So here we go, sliding gently into October, the 10th month of 2024. Which is odd, because you’d think (calling it October) it would be the 8th month: octet, octopus, octagon etc. And then there’s December, which ought to be the 10th month (decimal…) and is the 12th! What is going on? Something to do with our old friends the Julian and Gregorian calendars? And that’s a coincidence, because this month’s guest at Seaford is Julian Marc Stringle, who was quite possibly named after a calendar.
