Sorry this is later than an average UK Train…

Fun facts about December…December marked the 10th month of the Roman calendar, which used to begin in March. This explains the name December, which translates from the Latin ‘Decem,’ meaning ‘ten.’ Glad we were able to clear that one up for you.On December 17th, 1903, the Wright brothers made their first successful flight in a powered aircraft and stayed airbourne for 12 seconds.
65 years later, on December 21st 1968, Apollo 8 orbited the moon, something the Wright brothers probably never even contemplated in their wildest dreams.

The first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on December 10th, 1901, the anniversary of Nobel’s death. They still award the prize in a ceremony on December 10th each year at Oslo City Hall. Hands up if you know the name of the recipient of the 2025 prize! (the answer is at the bottom of the newsletter…)  A couple of musical December birthdays: Beethoven (December 16th, 1770) and Frank Sinatra (December 12th, 1915).

The first recorded Christmas celebration happened on 25th December 336, under the first-ever Christian Emperor – Constantine I. We don’t know exactly how they celebrated but it’s a fair bet they didn’t have fairy lights, mince pies and sherry…

All of us at Splash Point hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas in 2025, with an abundance of fairy lights, mince pies and sherry.  And if you have a chance to do something nice for someone less fortunate at Christmas, we just know you’ll jump at it.

Here’s a reminder of some of our November gigs (including a Caribbean trip to celebrate Neal & Sue’s 30 years as musicians! See our theme photo above), followed by the December listings, including the Christmas Specials at both Seaford and Eastbourne clubs.W

e also made it in to the illustrious local magazine Seaford Scene! Thanks to Johnathan Futrell for an amazing write-up.

Full Splash Point listings are below, but first let’s indulge ourselves in a look back over some of our brilliant November gigs.
