| Ah, September. Have you got that back-to-school feeling? Remember all those new school uniforms that were miles too big and needed name labels stitching in them? September is the month for things starting anew; for harvest festivals, enrolling for those interesting courses that don’t seem quite so much fun when the weather turns, and getting the winter duvet out and giving it a good shake.Hands up if it’s your favourite time of year? A lot of people love the freshness of September mornings, a softer light in the sky and all those crunchy leaves to walk over. As kids we went blackberrying in September (apparently 2025 is a good year in the hedgerows), for our mums to turn into jam or blackberry and apple pies – then as grown-ups we gave that up and waited till the end of the month when we could pick sloes and make sloe gin that would knock your socks off. September can be sunny, warm and bright, and if it is then Neal’s Sunday lunchtime gigs at the Relais Cooden Beach will still be outside on the terrace, where you could easily imagine yourself ‘sur le continent’. And if it’s the real thing you hanker for we have even arranged to bring that to your door, as Enriqué Thompson (Spanish, despite the surname…) heats things up at our Seaford club as part of his UK Tour. You see, there are no lengths we will not go for you lovely people… Let’s not leave August without a glance back over some of Splash Point’s finest moments. And then you are free to wander at will through the September gig listings, kicking up dried leaves as you go. See you in September! *** STOP PRESS** ![]() Our Splash Point friends Sara Oschlag and Arnie Somogyi are putting on a spectacular concert at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne on Sunday 12th October to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Duke Ellington’s last recording, which was at the very same theatre.
