How has the summer been? It’s almost been and gone, we know… but hopefully you’ve had some time to enjoy it.
Have you missed us? Well, despite the ongoing challenges that we are all facing – particularly in the world of live entertainment – we’re aiming here to get back on the horse again… even if it IS a different horse and more like a chihuahua than the thoroughbred stallion six live clubs we used to run….Ah those heady days of unfettered contact, dears! But adapt we must!
GOOD NEWS!
Firstly, we’ve got a couple of ACTUAL LIVE gigs in venues that you can actually attend PHYSICALLY IN PERSON coming up – hooray!
Secondly, Neal will be resuming his Livestream gigs online from next month – both solo and a monthly BAND one with a different guest each time – hooray!

EASTBOURNE – Monday 31st August 2pm
Eastbourne SPJC is hosting a benefit gig for The Fishermen’s Club, Royal Parade, BN22 7AA (‘Keep The Fishermen’s Afloat’) at 2pm on Monday 31st August. Like many venues across the country, The Fishermen’s are having a tough time of it in the present climate. They’ve been very good to SPJC as our Eastbourne venue of choice for the Club and 2018’s Splash Point Jazz Festival, so we’d like to support them in the best way we can.
The all-star musicians on the 31st are: Andy Panayi (sax), Roy Hilton (keys), Paul Whitten (bass) and Phil Crabbe (drums).
No tickets, but donations on the day (please be generous!), raffle tickets available to buy, and in addition to the usual bar there will be sandwiches available for those who feel peckish. The musicians will be outside (so let’s keep our fingers crossed for the weather..), there is some seating in the garden area too, but once this fills up there will be plenty more seating available inside.
Please support this one folks, we know you’re all longing to get back to hearing some live music and without terrific venues like The Fishermen’s, jazz clubs simply can’t exist.
N.B. Due to social distancing space will be limited, so please arrive early or be prepared to wait until a table becomes vacant. Track & Trace is active at The Fishermen’s.
Also, this is subject to the weather of course… but we hope to see you there.
2. BROAD OAK, KENT – Weds 30th Sept 7pm *NEW VENUE!*
This is the new venue run by the former landlord of our Battle club. It’s a lovely refurbished village pub, with a dedicated dining/function room at the back into which one of Neal’s fleet (flock? clutch? string?) of grand pianos has already been delivered 🙂 And this NEW SPJC will be opening with Neal’s critically-acclaimed “Not King Cole” show!
Tickets for £10 (+booking fee) will go on sale on our usual WeGotTickets/splashpointjazz page from the 1st Sept. And the AMAZING offer is that your £10 will be REDEEMABLE AGAINST YOUR FOOD order!
Seats will be strictly limited, for social distancing, so it’ll be first come first served. There will be tables of two, four and six so please think about putting a group together to make it worthwhile for the pub.
The Trio for this one comprises Neal Richardson (piano, vocals), Luke Rattenbury (guitar) and Miles Danso (bass)
