BBC Award - winning Liane Carroll records stunning new ballads album
for Splash Point Records

Seaford, Sussex. Friday 4th May 2007

Liane Carroll was absolutely delighted to be in the Splash Point Studios again last week. Liane recorded an album full of wonderful ballads ranging from Ellington to Tom Waits plus great new originals. The CD, called Slow Down, will be launched on 20th September and is her third CD on the Splash Point Records label (her previous two being Billy No Mates & Standard Issue).
Liane is co-producing the album along with Neal Richardson from Splash Point Records and Grammy Award-winning David Hentschel (Yellow Jackets, Elton John, Genesis), the same wonderful team who produced her last CD, Standard Issue.

The intense session lasted just 4 hours - a sign of a true professional who sung from her heart, giving the recording a very immediate and live feel. The intimate recording is a window on to the soul of the country's greatest jazz singer.

Liane commented at the end of the session on her MySpace blog
"All done and dusted. Just spent a fabulous day recording my new CD. Am very proud, and Ian [Shaw]… played a dream, Neal Richardson of Splash Point Records and David Hentschel who co produced it with me were stunning, so am very emotional right now in a happy, yet exhausted way."  Liane went on to describe it as "true and honest…it was an incredibly emotional 4 hours as all the songs meant something to me, from either childhood or teens."

Liane's previous CD with Splash Point Records, Standard Issue, recorded at Abbey Road in 2005, allowed her to become the first to take home two awards at the BBC Jazz Awards (Best of Jazz and Best Vocalist). She has added to this with awards from the British Jazz Awards and Marston Pedigree Awards.

Liane is now up for another gong at The
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards for UK Female Singer of the Year. The ceremony takes place next Monday (7th May) at Ronnies.

This is an exciting year for Splash Point Records: a new DVD of Liane live in concert is in production for release in the autumn and trumpet player/vocalist Sue Richardson, the great jazz singer and trumpet player will also be releasing an album this year. Being recorded next month 'Emergence' will feature a whole host of great sassy trumpet tunes and vocal numbers written by Sue.

Splash Point Records latest project, Liane Carroll's ballads CD, Slow Down, will be launched in September 2007.
